Dryer vent repair, replacement and installation

If cleaning doesn't restore airflow, the vent itself may be the problem. We repair crushed or disconnected sections, replace worn ducting and vent covers, and install new vent runs where the existing route doesn't work.

Problems we look for

  • A transition duct crushed behind the dryer
  • Disconnected joints inside a wall or crawl space
  • Plastic or thin foil ducting that needs replacing
  • Stuck, broken or lint-blocked outside covers
  • Long routes with too many bends
  • Sagging sections where lint and moisture collect

Why materials matter

Dryer manufacturers and fire-safety groups generally recommend metal venting because smooth metal catches less lint and holds its shape. Plastic and thin foil ducts crush easily. Your dryer's manual lists the materials and maximum vent length it allows, and local code can add requirements. We'll work from those when we recommend a repair.

Repair, replace or reroute?

A loose joint or damaged cover is usually a small fix. A vent that runs too far, or has been damaged along much of its length, may need replacing or a new route. We'll show you what we found before any work begins. If the job would require opening walls or a permit, we'll explain that first too.

How a visit works

  1. Call or send a request. Tell us your city, what you've noticed and the type of property.
  2. We look first. We check the accessible parts of the vents or ducts and take you through what we see.
  3. You get a clear quote. You'll know the scope before any work begins.
  4. We do the work and show you. We go over what we cleaned, what we couldn't reach and anything that needs repair.

Frequently asked questions

Will a new vent fix slow drying?

It will if the vent was the cause. If airflow at the outlet is good and the dryer still runs slowly, you may need an appliance technician.

Is foil ducting allowed behind my dryer?

Check your dryer manual and local code. Requirements depend on the product and the installation. In general, a metal vent is the safer long-term choice.

Can you move my dryer vent?

Often, yes. It depends on the wall, the route and any building rules. We'll tell you what's practical after seeing the space.
